The brother of the former head of Pakistan's notorious spy agency ISI, Lt. Gen. Faiz Hamid, has been arrested in Pakistan's Punjab province on charges of corruption.

However, the arrest is also being seen as a revenge move by the new government in Pakistan. The new government has opened a front against officials who earlier targeted Nawaz Sharif's family during Imran Khan's rule. Faiz Hamid was one of the favorite officials of the Imran Khan government. Imran Khan even wanted to make him the army chief.

Now, while the Sharif family has an important role in the new coalition government, Hamid's brother has been thrown behind bars. The spokesperson of the anti-corruption department said that Nazaf Hamid, brother of former ISI chief Lt. Gen. Faiz Hamid and revenue officer Nazaf Hamid, was arrested from Chakwal on Monday for committing corruption and abusing officials. He will be produced in court for remand.

Opponents of the Sharif family, on the other hand, are calling the arrest a bias-motivated and vindictive action. Because Maryam Nawaz, daughter of Nawaz Sharif and the current Chief Minister of Punjab, also announced during the election campaign that former army chief General Bajwa, former ISI chief Lt. General Faiz Hamid and former Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar, who filed bogus cases against our family, will be jailed and The country will have to answer by standing in court.
