Congress leader Archana Dalmiya took to Twitter to ask why the British were paying a pension of Rs 60 per month to Hindutva leader Veer Savarkar in 1924.

Archana's tweet was supported by many other Twitter users. One user directly questioned the BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra that if you are proud of your ideological ancestors, you should know what the British were paying them every month.

Another user wrote that the amount was paid to motivate young people to help the British government army in World War II. Another user wrote that the remuneration was paid for providing information to the British government by spying on revolutionaries.

Vinayak Damodar Savarkar spent nine years as a prisoner in the Andaman Nicobar Cellular Jail. This gel is known as black water. He was accused of being involved in a plot to assassinate then Nashik collector Jackson. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison on various charges.

According to one version he apologized to the British government from prison. Savarkar, along with Viceroy Linlithgow, made an understanding on the issue of Gandhiji, the Congress and the Muslims. As part of the agreement, the British government paid Savarkar a pension of Rs 60 a month. It is also alleged that Savarkar had written an apology not once but six times.

The Congress has repeatedly questioned the issue of whether the Hindu Mahasabha and pro-Hindu organizations should clarify Savarkar's so-called scam. Institutions talking about Veer Savarkar's bravery were hiding the real facts.
