Woman shot dead by police in Kolkata, shooter commits suicide

Kolkata: A policeman was shot dead near the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata. One woman was killed and two others were injured. After the incident, Jawan shot himself, killing himself.

The incident took place near Seven Point Crossing in Kolkata, a short distance away, where a large crowd had gathered and were demanding the arrest of BJP leader Nupur Sharma. At that moment, a large crowd gathered.

The deceased was identified as Rima Singha, who was traveling in a bike taxi. During which he was shot. Following which a large number of people had gathered in the area. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a police station, killing himself and wounding several others.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the police did not fire the bullet knowingly but the woman was shot as she came in between. However, an investigation is under way into why he shot himself.

However, the rioters had nothing to do with the shooting, police said. The policeman who committed suicide has been found to be suffering from mental illness.
