The Supreme Court rejected the demand for a special round to fill 18 vacant seats of NEET-PG

The apex court has said that the decision of the government and the medical council not to hold a special session of counseling to fill the 14 vacancies in NEET PG 2021 cannot be considered arbitrary. The apex court today also rejected petitions seeking special counseling to fill the 15 vacancies.

A vacation bench comprising Justice MR Shah and Justice Aniruddha Bose said the quality of medical education could not be compromised as it could affect public health.

The apex court further said that the decision of the government and the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) not to hold one more round of counseling was in the interest of medical education and the public.

While the Central Government and the Medical Council have jointly decided not to hold a special counseling session to fill the vacancies, the decision cannot be considered arbitrary.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court in another landmark judgment has said that additional rounds for filling seats in nursing courses in Delhi for the academic year 2021-2 cannot be allowed. The Supreme Court said that the admission process cannot be made endless.

A vacation bench comprising Justice MR Shah and Justice Aniruddha Bose rejected petitions seeking additional counseling rounds to fill nursing seats for the academic year 2021-2.
