Record breaking rain in Barmer, Rajasthan: How many vehicles were towed

Barmer: It started raining on Monday evening in Barmer, almost in the middle of the Tharparkar desert, and lasted for four hours. Pre-monsoon showers in the area broke the record of the last 15 years, with 4 mm of rain falling in just 3 hours, causing flood-like conditions on the roads. And as the water flow of 5 to 6 feet between the two houses, some vehicles were also pulled.

In fact, it had been raining unbearably for the last 2-3 days in this area and the sky had started getting dark since Monday evening. In the border area Chauhar, heavy rain fell for 3 hours and 4 to 5 feet of flowing water also penetrated into the houses. Lightning flashed all around. When the electricity was cut off in the villages.

Due to heavy rains, the roads of the city became rivers. So in towns like Barmer and Chauhantan, people returning from duty had to stay on the steps of other people's houses.

The heavy rains made it difficult to drive on the roads. Almost all two-wheeled vehicles were stopped. The IMD had predicted light rain. But it rained heavily till 8.30 pm. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for light to moderate rains with strong winds in Nagaur, Jalor, Udaipur, Dungarpur, Jodhpur, Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Chittorgarh, Bikaner and Ajmer.
