Police rained 24 sticks on stone throwers in 30 seconds, MLA termed as 'return gift'

BJP MLA Shalabh Mani Tripathi from Deoria in Uttar Pradesh has shared a video on his Twitter account which has sparked a nationwide discussion. The video shows police beating some youths with sticks while standing in line. The BJP MLA wrote in the caption of the video, 'Return gift to the rebels !!'

MLA Shalabh Mani Tripathi is a former journalist and has also been a media adviser to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He did not specify in the tweet where the video was from or who the young men who were being beaten were.

However, it is believed that the accused who incited violence in 9 cities of UP are being killed by the police after the controversial statement about Prophet Mohammad. After the video went viral, questions are being raised about the working style of the UP police and they are being reminded of human rights. Some people have started demanding action against the police personnel who were beaten in this manner.

It is learned that the video was shot two days ago at a police station in Saharanpur. Protests and clashes erupted in Saharanpur after the Juma Namaz following the controversial remarks made by two former BJP spokespersons about the Prophet Mohammad.
