No special relief from scorching heat in North India till June 15: IMD

The scorching heat in northwest and central India is expected to ease in the coming weeks, the Indian Meteorological Department said in a statement.

The scorching heat continued today inHimachal Pradesh ,Rajasthan , Madhya Pradesh , Haryana , Delhi , Jharkhand , Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. Banda in Uttar Pradesh was the hottest city with a low of 7.5 degrees Celsius.

The temperature was above 4 degrees Celsius in 6 cities of these states. It is to be mentioned that since June 2, the hit wave has been continuing in North West and Central India. IMD scientist RK Jenamani said the current heat intensity is slightly lower than the heat wave in late April and May, although the affected areas remained the same.

The IMD further said that by the end of the week, maximum temperatures in Delhi-NCR and other parts of north-west India will drop sharply. However, there will be no major relief till June 15.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, pre-monsoon activity will start from June 15 in Madhya Pradesh , Chhattisgarh and Odisha. The maximum temperature will be above normal till June 15 in North Rajasthan ,Punjab ,Haryana , Delhi , Uttar Pradesh and North Madhya Pradesh.

By June 15, the temperature will be between 40 and 4 degrees. From June 15 to June 7, the temperature will reach below normal or close to normal. N
