The BJP has registered a major reversal in the results of the Lok Sabha by-elections being declared today in UP. Because the BJP has done well in both these Lok Sabha seats, which are the stronghold of the Samajwadi Party. The result for the Rampur seat has also been declared and in this seat BJP candidate Ghanshyam Singh Lodhi has defeated Samajwadi Party candidate Asim Raza by 42,000 votes.

This seat is considered the stronghold of SP leader Azam Khan. Azam Khan had contested the Rampur Lok Sabha seat in 2019 and in 2022 he won the assembly election from this constituency. The seat fell vacant after he resigned as an MP after becoming an MLA. On which he landed his supporter Asim Raza. Although Azam Khan himself was campaigning, the SP lost the seat.

Azamgarh
