Kanpur violence: Bulldozers run over 100 illegal buildings, 30 arrested

New Delhi, Dt

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a tough stance on the issue of Kanpur violence. After police released posters of 50 rioters, the agency is now preparing to use bulldozers on 100 illegal buildings. The agency has compiled a list of 12 buildings that were previously sealed but whose seals were broken. Police, on the other hand, have arrested a total of 30 people involved in the Kanpur violence.

In Kanpur, Muslim organizations announced a bandh on June 2 in protest of Nupur Sharma's statement. Violence erupted at this time. Police have identified the accused on the basis of CCTV footage and affixed their posters. Police have arrested 40 people so far. CCTV is investigating the role of the accused based on the footage. Police say some people surrendered after the posters were released.

The connection of PFI on the issue of Kanpur violence has also come to the fore. Four people have also been arrested in this connection. Police have arrested Saifullah, Mohammad Naseem and Mohammad Umar. The three accused were also arrested and sent to jail in the riots of CAA and NRS. Now the connection of the three has come to light during the investigation of Kanpur violence. According to police, the trio worked to gather stone throwers during last Friday's violence. The three were in touch with Zafar Hayat Hashmi, the main conspirator in the violence. On the other hand, Qazi Maulana Abdul Qudus Hadi of Kanpur city said that unilateral action is being taken against Muslims. He said 80 per cent of those arrested were Muslims. If the government now bulldozes the buildings, we will come to the road with shrouds tied. Meanwhile, the state government has transferred 31 IAS officers, including DM Neha Sharma and Lucknow DM Abhishek Prakash, on the issue of Kanpur violence.
