Controversy over 16 Rajya Sabha seats: BJP's game deteriorating in Rajasthan

Voting is on for 16 Rajya Sabha seats in four states of the country, including four in Rajasthan, two in Haryana, six in Maharashtra and four in Karnataka. Fearing cross-voting in this election, political leaders resorted to resort politics to save legislators. Political parties were desperate to save their legislators.

Rajasthan has a math of eight-digit victory. Eight Congress MLAs are angry with Congress' Pramod Tiwari. On the other hand, BJP-backed independent candidate Subhash Chandra has 33 votes and needs eight more votes so the Congress has resorted to resort politics. In Rajasthan, Congress has two seats and BJP has one. There is a tussle for the fourth seat. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's grip is strong. They are saving the annoyed legislators. He has tried to quell the resentment of legislators for fear of cross-voting.

Rajasthan needs 41 MLAs to win one candidate. Congress' Mukul Wasnik, Randeep Surjewala and Pramod Tiwari are in the fray. All three candidates need 123 votes while the government currently has the support of 126 MLAs out of which 107 are from Congress. There are eight independent legislators.

On the other hand, the victory of BJP candidate Ghanshyam Tiwari is certain. The BJP has 71 MLAs. In Rajasthan, the vote of Shobharani, close to Vasundhara Raje, has been canceled, which is a blow to the BJP.

Nawab Malik did not get relief from the Bombay High Court to vote in the Maharashtra elections.

In Haryana, two votes have been invalidated. Kiran Chaudhary and BB Batra have voted for someone other than the agent. Independent MLA Balraj Kundu announced that he would not vote. Cross voting has taken place in Karnataka. JDS MLA Srinivasa Gowda said in a cross-voting that he had voted for the Congress candidate as he saw fit.

On the other hand, Owaisi's party AIMIM has backed Congress candidate Imran Pratap Gadhi to defeat BJP in Maharashtra. However, Shiv Sena will get the benefit. Six Rajasthan BSP MLAs have cast their votes before the Supreme Court hearing. These MLAs from BSP to Congress have voted. BJP has backed Subhash Chandra. The victory of one BJP candidate is certain and surplus votes are being given to Subhash Chandra.

Raj Thackeray's party MNS has attacked Shiv Sena. He has said that Shiv Sena has taken the support of Owaisi, so his Hindutva has been exposed. They do not even hesitate to seek support from the Nizam's descendants. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has claimed that all the candidates of Mahavikas Aghadi will win. "We have enough support," he said.
