ALH MK-3 helicopter incorporated in Indian Coastguard

835 Squadron of Advanced Light Helicopter MK-3 has been inducted into Indian Coast Guard at Air Enclave, Porbandar, Gujarat. This helicopter is made in the country. This indigenous ALH MK-3 helicopter is manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). It has state-of-the-art equipment such as SAR Homer with advanced radar, power engine, full glass cockpit, high-intensity searchlights, advanced communication system, automatic identification system with electro-optical sensors.

These features enable the Coast Guard to monitor the sea as well as conduct search and reconnaissance day and night. Apart from this, this helicopter has a heavy machine gun. Apart from this the helicopter can be converted into a flying ICU at any time.

So far 13 ALH MK-III helicopters have been inducted into the Indian Coastguard in phases. Out of which four helicopters are deployed in Porbandar. The squadron has flown for more than 1,200 hours since joining the service. At the same time, for the first time, the Diu coast has conducted several missions, including SAR.

Commandant Sunil Dutt has the command of this 835 squadron. Formerly ALH MK-2 is owned by all three armies of the Indian Military. The Indian Air Force has 107 helicopters, the Indian Army has 191 and the Navy has 14 helicopters. The Navy has ordered 11 and the Army 73 more helicopters.

This is flown by two pilots. Which can seat 12 young men. At 52.1 feet long, the helicopter is 16.4 feet high. Its speed is 291 km per hour. This can fly up to 630 km at a time. Can go up to an altitude of 20 thousand feet.
