Air Force receives 94,000 applications in four days after first violent protests

New Delhi, 28 June 2022, Tuesday

The three wings of the Indian government's army are now scrambling to recruit under the scheme following violent protests in the country against Agniveer's new recruitment scheme.

The Air Force has started registration of candidates from Friday as part of the Agniveer scheme and 94,000 youths have registered for it in four days. The number of registrations is likely to increase further as the last date for registration is July 5.

Under the scheme, 17 to 21 year olds will be covered for four years and 25 per cent of them will be covered for regular service after four years.

Violent protests and demonstrations erupted in the country on June 14 after the announcement of the scheme.

However, the three wings of the army have made it clear that violent protests and arsonists will not be included in the army.
