Malegaon blast case: Another witness retires, saying police forced RSS leaders to name


New Delhi, February 3, 2022

Another witness in the 2008 Malegaon blast case in Maharashtra has returned to court.

This is the 17th witness who has refused to testify and has made serious allegations against the Maharashtra ATS. The witness said, "I was abducted by the ATS of Maharashtra Police and I was detained for four days. I am accused of this blast." As was forced to take the names of RSS leaders.

Meanwhile, the 15th witness in the case had earlier alleged that the police had pressured him to name Yogi Adityanath, senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar and Swami Aseemanand in the blast.

The blast killed six people and injured 100 others. The blast took place on a motorcycle. The accused in the case, Lt Col Prasad Purohit, had earlier demanded that the case be heard in a closed room by a special court.
