The dream of a new India will come true with districts and villages: PM Modi

New Delhi, Dt
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held a video conference with various district officials (DMs) of the country. Prime Minister Modi said that the dream of a new India would come true only from districts and villages. Backward districts used to be a stumbling block in the country's progress figures in terms of development works, but in the last seven years, these same districts, which have been given special attention and presented as aspirational districts, have become the catalysts for development instead of a stumbling block. The meeting also reviewed the implementation of Centre's schemes in the districts. The Prime Minister appreciated the innovative ideas of the district officials.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi said that district officials should set new targets for the nectar festival of independence. He said he aims to be at the forefront of the fight against malnutrition and hunger in his districts. The government has made a list of all these targets so that everyone can work on it together. Referring to good governance, the Prime Minister said that district officials should inspect all works at the block level. No district should be untouched by government schemes.
Prime Minister Modi added that if all the officers in the district work together as a unit, the results will be very good. The Prime Minister also spoke about the problems of the districts. He said that on the one hand, the budget was increasing, plans were being made, economic growth was also taking place in statistics, but even after 7 years of independence, many districts of the country remained backward. With the passage of time, these districts got the tag of backward district. The development that has taken place only in statistics in these districts should now be seen on the ground as well.
Modi said that today the aspirational district is removing obstacles for the country to move forward. With all your efforts, today the aspiring district is becoming the accelerator of development instead of obstacles. The Chief Minister of the state also admits that the aspiring districts in his states have done a marvelous job. Direct dialogue and emotional connection between the system and the masses is essential for development in aspiring districts. Technology and innovation are important aspects of this campaign.
The Prime Minister said that the work done in the Aspirational District has become a subject of study in the major universities of the world. In the last four years, almost every aspirational district in the country has seen a four to five fold increase in public accounts. Almost every household has access to toilet and electricity.
The Prime Minister said that different departments of different ministries of the government have prepared a list of 12 districts which have lagged behind on one or two parameters. We want to make them an aspiring district by working with a collective approach. He added that the country was witnessing a silent revolution in the form of Digital India. None of our districts should be left behind. It is imperative that digital infrastructure reaches every one of our villages, becoming a means of door-to-door delivery of services and facilities.
