Following a successful trial on dogs, preparations are now underway to conduct a trial on 15 lions at the Sakkarbagh Zoological Park in Junagadh, Gujarat. The trial will be started after getting the approval of Gujarat government. After that the animals can also be vaccinated by launching the vaccine in the market.

From the Delta variant to the death of the lion ...

The minister of the institute that developed the vaccine, scientist Dr. Naveen Kumar said that SARS corona virus (Covid-19) is found mainly in animals like dogs, cats, lions, leopards, panthers and deer. A few months ago, the Covid-19 virus was identified in a dead lion at a Chennai-based zoo. Investigations revealed that his death was caused by a Delta variant of the Covid. Because of this he isolated the Delta variant virus found in humans in the lab and succeeded in creating a vaccine using it.
