China abducts 17-year-old boy from Arunachal border, Center asks PLA to return

Tensions are high between India and China at the Ladakh-based LAC. In the midst of all this, China has continued its nefarious moves along the rest of its borders with India. China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) has abducted a 17-year-old boy from the border with Arunachal Pradesh. State MP Tapir Gao informed the Center about this. The central government said on Thursday it had asked the Chinese military to search for the child and return it as per protocol.

Defense sources said on Thursday that the Indian Army had immediately approached the PLA after receiving a tip-off that Miram Taron was missing from Arunachal Pradesh. Assistance has been sought from the PLA to locate it in their areas and return it as per ASTD protocol.

The boy was abducted on Wednesday from Upper Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh MP Gao said. The MP said another attempt was made by the PLA to abduct the youth but he managed to escape and he informed the local administration about the abduction of his accomplice. Gao said he had briefed Minister of State for Home Nitish Pramanik on the whole case and demanded his immediate release with the help of government agencies.

Kidnapping of 5 people in 2020

Earlier, in September 2020, China had made a similar move. The PLA had abducted five people from Arunachal Pradesh's Upper Subansiri district. After the issue was raised by the local media, the then Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju raised the issue with China and ensured the release of the abducted people.
