The Supreme Court slammed the railways for not being able to save the land they owned

A case was heard in the Supreme Court regarding people living in huts built on railway land. In the case, the apex court had slammed the railway authority, saying the railways were too careless to protect the land they owned. The railways should immediately remove the pressure from the land it owns.
In Gujarat and Haryana, a case was heard in the Supreme Court on the issue of eviction of people living in huts built on railway land. The apex court had slammed the railways, saying that the railways was too careless in preserving and maintaining its ownership of the land.
The apex court said that on the one hand the project was moving forward and on the other hand the process of removing the pressure had not started yet. This is public property and is not worth the pressure. The process of immediate removal of pressure from the railway ground should be undertaken. The Supreme Court said that it was the legal responsibility of the railways to protect its property.
Regarding the rehabilitation of slum dwellers, the apex court had asked the Urban Development Ministry what arrangements the government has for relocating such people.
In Gujarat, more than 3000 huts were built on railway owned land. The hearing was held in that regard. The government should formulate a policy for the rehabilitation of these poor people. But the Supreme Court had insisted on evacuating public property by removing them from railway land. In Haryana too, slums have sprung up on railway land. The Supreme Court has urged the Ministry of Urban Development to respond in the next hearing for rehabilitation in respect of both the states.
