LUCKNOW: IAS officials, including Uttar Pradesh MLAs, mayors and SDMs, bought land at water prices after a landmark Supreme Court ruling paving the way for construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya and then sold it to the Ram Mandir Trust for crores of rupees. . However, the Yogi government had ordered an immediate inquiry after the reports surfaced, but the opposition, including Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, expressed dissatisfaction with the government's order and demanded an inquiry under the auspices of the Supreme Court.

The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered an inquiry into reports of land grabbing by relatives of BJP leaders and government officials near the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Additional Chief Secretary of State for Information Navneet Sehgal told reporters that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the revenue department to probe the allegations. However, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra called the state government's decision to order an inquiry by a district-level official of the Yogi government a sham and demanded an inquiry under the auspices of the Supreme Court. He said the issue should be investigated by the Supreme Court under Suo Moto as the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya was being carried out by its order.

Priyanka alleged that the BJP-RSS had earlier carried out a scam by collecting donations for the Ram temple. In this way, the BJP leaders have hurt the faith of the people who donated for the Ram temple. The silence of Prime Minister Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath on this issue is raising many questions. He further alleged that the money of Ram Mandir Trust was being misused to benefit BJP, RSS and members of the trust. The land of Dalits has also been illegally bought by the officials and their relatives. He showed the land documents showing that the price of land had gone up by 1,200 per cent in just five minutes.

Congress chief secretary and chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewale termed it a land scam and alleged that people associated with the BJP in Ayodhya were openly looting land. Earlier, the Ram Mandir Trust was also accused of corruption by buying land at a very high price.

Land prices change minute by minute

* The same land was divided into two parts and sold at different prices.

* A share of 10,000 square meters of land was sold to the trust for Rs 3 crore.

* The other part of the same land of 12,000 square meters is only Rs. Ravi Mohan Tiwari was sold for Rs 3 crore.

* Thus, you sold one part of the same land for Rs. 3 crores and the other part, which was a little bigger than that, at the same time sold for Rs. 3 crore.

* Five minutes later, Ravi Mohan Tiwari paid Rs. 3 crore land trust to Rs. 12.5 crore.
