In November this year, India received three heavy rains and 12 heavy rains, the Indian Meteorological Department said in a statement. This is the highest rainfall in five years in November.

Heavy and very heavy rains in November killed eight people in Andhra Pradesh, 12 in Tamil Nadu, 12 in Karnataka and three in Kerala.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, more than 206.5 mm of rain fell 11 times in November. Even in November last year, more than 206.5 mm of rain fell only 11 times.

Not a single heavy rain fell in November 2016. There were four heavy rains in 2012 and one in 2015.

According to the meteorological department, five low pressure incidents occurred in November this year. The meteorological department further said that more than normal rainfall is expected in the country even in December.

Rains are also expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka in December.
