- A new crisis could erupt if even a little carelessness is achieved after achieving the target of Rs 1 billion: PM

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that now we need to take the vaccination campaign door to door. He also laid special emphasis on completing this grand campaign by taking two doses of vaccine.

After achieving the target of vaccinating 1 billion people, the Prime Minister warned against the kind of negligence that could lead to a new crisis. He also quoted the saying that we must continue to fight until the disease and the enemy are completely defeated. Modi also asked people to focus on getting a second dose of the covid vaccine. Citing the negligence of the people, the Prime Minister said that whenever the cases of transition start declining, the feeling of urgency diminishes. Modi was speaking to the Prime Minister during a video conference with collectors from 40 districts in Jharkhand, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya and other states. In this meeting, Modi reviewed the vaccination campaign conducted in these districts and this meeting was attended by the collectors of the districts where so far only 20% of the people have taken the first dose of vaccine, meaning the remaining 50% of the population is yet to get the first dose of vaccine. There is complete uncertainty as to when the dose will start. It is worth mentioning that these are the states where the majority of the tribal people do not believe in getting vaccinated, in addition to how many religious beliefs or misconceptions prevent them from getting vaccinated.

Addressing the collectors of the district, the Prime Minister said that if need be, a separate strategy for each village should be formulated. We can do that, because we need to make as many people as possible aware of the importance of vaccines. Religious leaders of different religions will also have to join in this campaign of vaccination. "I recently visited the pope at the Vatican. We need to get the clergy's views on vaccination to the local people," Modi said.
