Amid China's growing dominance in the Indian Ocean
Destroyer Visakhapatnam will be part of Indian Navy on November 21 and Submarine Vela on November 25.
New Delhi: The Indian Navy will add a guided missile destroyer and Calvary series submarine by next week to augment its combat capability to cope with the rapidly changing security environment in view of China's growing dominance in the Indian Ocean.
Vice Admiral Satish Namdev Ghormade, Vice President, Indian Navy, said that the destroyer Visakhapatnam would be inducted into the Indian Navy on November 21 while the submarine Vela would be inducted into the Indian Navy on November 25.
According to the Navy Commander, construction of 39 Navy ships and submarines is currently underway at various Indian Navy shipyards. Which will increase the capacity of the Indian Navy.
Vice Admiral Ghoramde further said that rapid efforts were being made to enhance the capabilities of the Indian Navy to meet the growing international challenges.
Admiral Karambir Singh, Chief of the Naval Staff of the Indian Navy, will be present as the chief guest at the event organized by Defense Minister Rajnath for the destruction of Visakhapatnam and the submarine Vela. Vella is the fourth submarine in the Calvary series. Both are manufactured by Mazgaon Dock Shipbuilders Limited. The two will be inducted into the Indian Navy at the Navy Dockyard in Mumbai.
