The ED seized assets worth Rs 3.75 crore belonging to a Shiv Sena MP's associate

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized Rs 3.75 crore office building of Saeed Khan, an associate of Shiv Sena MP Bhavna Gawli, in connection with a money laundering case, officials said in a statement.

The ED had issued a provisional order under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to seize an office in Nariman Point area of Mumbai. Khan, accused of embezzling funds from a trust called Mahila Utkarsh Pratishthan, was arrested by the ED in September.

Khan, the director of the trust, is currently in judicial custody. Bhavana Gawli, 48, is a Lok Sabha MP from Yavatmal-Washim constituency. The ED had also summoned him for questioning in the case.

However, he did not appear before the investigating agency even after three summons were issued. The ED said the investigation revealed that a conspiracy was hatched to transform a trust called Mahila Utkarsh Pratishthan into a company.

The ED claimed that the Nariman Point office was bought by embezzling money from a trust called Mahila Utkarsh Pratishthan.
