Terrorist attack feared: Search for foreigners living illegally in Delhi, 12 arrested

Amid fears of a terrorist attack in the capital, police have started collecting data on foreigners staying in Delhi illegally and despite expiration. It is learned that several thousand foreigners are staying in Delhi illegally. There are many foreigners whose stay has expired. Mo. a citizen of Pakistan. Delhi Police has taken this step after Ashraf was arrested. According to a police official, the search for the foreign nationals is in full swing.

A senior Delhi Police official said that the Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO) has sent a list of foreign nationals illegally staying in Delhi and after the expiry of their time period following an order from the Home Ministry. Delhi Police has sent a list of foreign nationals living in each district to the district DCP.

The district DCP has sent this list to all the station chiefs. Thane police are looking for or verifying foreign nationals living in their area. A total of 65 foreigners have remained in the south-east district even after the deadline, an official at the Delhi Police headquarters said. The highest number of 51 nationals are from Afghanistan, 5 from Bangladesh and 4 from Uganda. The highest number of 23 citizens of Afghanistan is living in Hazrat Nizamuddin and 22 in Lajpat Nagar.

Many foreigners are also living illegally in the south-eastern district. Police officials said that Pakistan's notorious Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) terrorist Mohd. Ashraf lived in India for about 18 years. He was carrying out terrorist activities here. According to the police, legal action is being taken against the foreigners living illegally.
