P. 19 killed in vehicle collision with truck in Nadia, Bengal

At least 12 people were killed when a vehicle carrying a body collided with a truck parked on the road in West Bengal's Nadia district, a police official said in a statement. The dead included six women and a child.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have expressed grief over the incident. There were 4 people in the mini truck carrying the body. The vehicle collided with a truck parked on the highway near Hanskhali, killing 12 people on the spot. The incident took place at 9 am. Six others died during treatment at the hospital.

Locals and police rushed the injured to the nearby Shaktinagar General Hospital. Doctors reviewed the condition of the injured and asked them to take the seriously injured to a hospital in Krishnanagar.

According to the police official, the accident may have been due to reduced visibility due to fog. Expressing grief over the incident, Prime Minister Modi said on Twitter that he was "deeply saddened" to learn of the accidental deaths in Nadia. I hope the injured in this accident recover quickly.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also said on Twitter that God give the families of the deceased the strength to bear this grief. I hope the injured will recover soon.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that she is heartbroken to hear the news of the accident in Nadia. May God give strength to the families of the deceased in these difficult times. Prayed for a speedy recovery.
