Controversy has erupted over the recently launched Ramayana Circuit Train to promote religious tourism. The controversy is being waged over the costumes of saints. As can be seen in a video that is going viral on social media, the waiters working inside the train are seen in the costumes of saints. Due to this, the saints living in Ujjain have protested loudly. The saints have also written a letter to the railway minister protesting. The saints have mentioned in the letter to stop the next train starting on December 12.

Indian Railways has started the Ramayana Express train through IRCTC with the objective of taking pilgrims to places of worship associated with Lord Rama, including Ayodhya and Chitrakoot. In this train associated with religious pilgrimage, food is being served to the devotees inside the train. In a video that is going viral on social media, some people are seen in the costume of a monk and they are serving food. It is being claimed that this is a video of Ramayana Sakrit train and they are all waiters of the train. The saints have questioned the costumes of the waiters seen in the video.

Former general secretary of Ujjain Akhara Parishad Awadhesh Puri protested, saying that the costumes of saints are worn by waiters which is an insult to the sadhu community. If the costumes are not changed soon, the train leaving on December 12 will be opposed by the Sant Samaj and thousands of Hindus will demonstrate in front of the train. According to Awadhesh Puri, he has written a letter to the Railway Minister after the video came to light.
