Decision to repeal agriculture law welcome but government should accept farmers' demand for support price: Varun

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the repeal of all the three agricultural laws. However, farmers are still demanding legal reassurance on the issue of support prices. Which now has the support of BJP MP Varun Gandhi. Varun Gandhi has demanded that farmers be given legal recognition of support prices.

It has also demanded compensation of Rs 1 crore each to the families of the 700 farmers killed during the agitation. "I demand that the government should also take a decision on the issue of support prices so that the farmers' agitation can be stopped," he said.

Varun wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In which he has said that the incident of Lakhimpur Khiri is extremely shameful. The government should take action against Ajay Mishra, the minister involved in the case.

At the same time, Varun demanded that the government should immediately accept all the demands of the farmers. And the families of the 700 farmers who have been killed during the agitation against this agricultural law should get compensation of one crore rupees each.

Varun also said that the support price recommendation of the Swaminathan Commission should be implemented. Agricultural scientist Swaminathan recommended that farmers be given 50 per cent profit on the cost incurred. Even before Varun Gandhi, the issue of Lakhimpur Khiri incident has surrounded the Central Government. They have been raising the issue of farmers for a long time.
