MUMBAI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) of former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, who is not 'reachable', has been arrested at midnight after a 13-hour interrogation. Thus, even before the Diwali celebrations, the Maharashtra government has suffered a major setback.

Deshmukh was produced before a special court today and was remanded in ED custody till November 6. Thus, Deshmukh's Diwali will now pass in the custody of the ED. The ED had earlier summoned Deshmukh five times in the money laundering case. However, he was not present.

Deshmukh was embroiled in controversy after being accused of money laundering and extortion of Rs 100 crore. Deshmukh, who has been mysteriously missing for the past several days, appeared at the ED's office yesterday. He was accompanied by a lawyer. On the other hand, some ED officials from Delhi also entered the ED office at 7.30 pm yesterday.

Deshmukh was arrested by the ED at midnight after hours of interrogation. When Deshmukh was produced before the special court, his lawyers Vikram Chaudhary and Aniket Nikam argued strongly. The ED had sought 14 days custody of Deshmukh. Deshmukh's detailed inquiry and investigation into the money laundering case was required by the ED.

Deshmukh is not in good health. He died in February. He has heart and arm tension. That's what his lawyer said. But your argument was not upheld by the court and it was ordered to be kept in the custody of the ED till November.

An application was made to the court by Deshmukh to allow Waki ​​to be present at some distance during the interrogation of Deshmukh in the custody of the ED. There was also a request for food and medicine from home. The court granted both their petitions. Before appearing in court, the ED sent Deshmukh to J.J. for a medical examination. Were taken to the hospital.
