New delhi date. 13
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced the withdrawal of three controversial agricultural laws after almost a year. With this, the Modi government had to withdraw the ordinance and law for the second time in seven years after 2014.
The demands of the farmers had to come to a standstill following the agitation of the central government against the three agricultural laws which lasted for more than a year. The government made several attempts to persuade the farmers, but the farmers were not at least happy with the repeal of the agricultural laws. Eventually the government had to repeal the agricultural laws.
Earlier in 2014, after winning an incredible majority, the central government had issued a new land acquisition ordinance just days after taking office. But as soon as this ordinance was opposed, it caused a great uproar. The ordinance was opposed by all opposition parties. As a result, the Modi government issued the ordinance four times, but the government could not pass the relevant bill in Parliament. Finally, exhausted, the central government announced the withdrawal of the ordinance on August 31, 2018.
