Mathura: In the election state of Uttar Pradesh, the All India Hindu Mahasabha has announced that an idol of Lord Krishna will be erected in a mosque near a temple in Mathura. 144 have been implemented in Mathura since this announcement. The decision was taken amid fears that violence could erupt.

DM Navneet Singh Chahal said that no one should be allowed to disturb the peace in Mathura. Meanwhile, the Nayarani Sena has said that we will rally from Vishram Ghat to the birthplace of Lord Krishna with a demand to remove the mosque near the Krishna temple.

Police said that after the announcement, Nayanari Sena secretary Amit Mishra was arrested for fear of disturbing the peace. The organization claims that its national president Manish Yadav has also been detained from Lucknow.

Chahal said he had discussed the two religious sites with senior police chief Gaurav Grover. With elections looming in Uttar Pradesh, there are fears that the Mathura temple controversy could escalate, prompting security measures to be taken.
