Attempts have been made to assassinate Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Qadimi. His home was attacked on Sunday morning. The attack was carried out by drones. PM Kadimi was present at the house at the time of the attack.

The Iraqi army has called the attack on the PM a "failed attack." The army said PM Kadimi was not harmed in the attack and was safe. All necessary steps are being taken to take this attack.

Shortly after the attack, PM Kadimi said he was safe via Twitter. "The rocket of betrayal cannot break the morale of those who believe," he wrote. Our heroic security forces will remain strong as they work to maintain the security of the people, administer justice and enforce the law. ' "I am fine, thank you from above, and I call for peace and restraint for Iraq," he added.

However no one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. Clashes erupted on Friday between supporters of pro-Iranian Shiite fighters camped outside Baghdad's Green Zone area and anti-riot police forces, which later turned violent. The area is home to Prime Minister Kadimi's home and the US embassy.

Protesters denied defeat in last month's parliamentary election. The pro-Iranian fighters suffered heavy losses in the election. One protester was killed and several others were injured in what became known as the Cold War.
