The central government has reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel to make them cheaper.
The BJP-ruled states have also reduced VAT on petrol and diesel. However, some of the Congress-ruled states are reluctant to reduce VAT.
Rajasthan is one of these states and now the state CM Ashok Gehlot says that I got a call from Home Minister Amit Sah to reduce the state government's tax i.e. VAT and they were pressuring me to reduce VAT.
He said that if VAT is reduced, the states will suffer a lot and the central government wants the states to weaken. The central government is robbing the people. The policy and donations of the central government are bad.
However, Gehlot also hinted at reducing VAT on petrol and diesel in the coming days.
