Samir Wankhede's father has filed a defamation suit against Nawab Malik in the Bombay High Court and demanded Rs 1.5 crore in compensation.

Nawab Malik accused Samir Wankhede of being a Muslim and claimed that he got the job by showing himself as a Scheduled Caste on the basis of a fake certificate. Nawab Malik's team also provided Samir Wankhede's school admission form and primary school certificate to the Bombay High Court as evidence.

At the same time, Nawab Malik's team has also claimed that Samir Wankhede had forged certificates for his own defense. Samir Wankhede's legal team presented Samir Wankhede's birth certificate in the court in which his name is registered as Samir Gyandev Wankhede.
