US orders action against Chinese phone-carrier for security reasons

- The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) fears that Beijing may be spying on the company and carrying out other harmful activities.

WASHINGTON: Amid mounting tensions between the United States and China, the United States has ordered China Telecom (US), one of three Chinese government-owned telecom companies operating in the United States, to withdraw its action from the United States within 90 days.

The Chinese government-owned company operates domestic and international telecom services in the United States. But not only was the company secretly interfering in the operations of its own American companies, but it was also keeping a close eye on American pioneers and engaging in other espionage activities and harming the United States.

In fact, since the time of President Donald Trump, Chinese companies have been kept away from American technology in terms of national security. The Biden administration is following suit. It has now come to light that these companies also deliver information about US services to Beijing. Therefore, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has ordered China Telecom (America's) Corp. to sum up the proceedings. It has also been removed from the US stock exchange. The Trump administration has also banned Americans from investing in Chinese companies.

The FCC further stated that the license application of China Telecom and another Chinese government-owned phone carrier, China Unicom Ltd., was rejected almost two decades ago. His third company, China Mobile Ltd., also had its license application revoked.

The FCC also said that the Chinese government-owned China Telecom America has been asked to withdraw its action from the United States, which is also a threat to national security and law enforcement.
