The Supreme Court today allowed the National Testing Agency to release the results of the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to the country's undergraduate medical courses.

A bench comprising Justice L Nageshwar Rao, Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice BR Gavai stayed the Bombay High Court's order directing it not to announce the outcome of the NTA NIT. The Bombay High Court in its recent order further asked NTA Maharashtra to retake the net exam of two students. Two students' question papers and OMR sheets were mixed at an examination center in Maharashtra.

After hearing the arguments of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who was present on behalf of the NTA, the apex court bench said, "We stay the judgment of the High Court." The National Testing Agency can now announce the result.

"We will decide what to do with the two students from Maharashtra after the Diwali vacation," the bench said.

On October 30, the Bombay High Court in its order directed the NTA to retake the examinations of two students from Maharashtra and to declare the results of both along with the main results.
