The SpiceJet flight landed on the wrong side of the Belgaum runway

New Delhi: SpiceJet's Hyderabad-Belgaum flight landed on the wrong side of Karnataka's Belgaum airport. The pilot has been suspended following the incident, the airline said Monday.

A spokesperson for the airline said in a statement that on October 24, SpiceJet's DashQ400 flight left Hyderabad for Belgaum. The ATC allowed the aircraft to land on Runway 26 in Belgaum, but the flight landed on Runway 8. This literally means that the plane landed at Runway-8, its final destination, instead of landing at Belgaum Runway (Runway-26).

A company spokesman said the aircraft made a safe landing. Following the reports of DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) and AAIB (Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau), the airline took immediate action and removed both the pilots from duty and they will be investigated.
