The meeting of the Congress Executive Committee was convened today (Saturday, October 17), 12 days after two senior leaders of the Congress G-23 group demanded immediate convening of the Congress Executive Committee meeting to address the challenges facing the party. The meeting, chaired by the party's acting president Sonia Gandhi, discussed the party's internal elections as well as the states in which assembly elections are to be held. But at the same time, there was a natural discussion about starting pre-preparations for the 206 Lok Sabha elections. The formation of the Central Election Committee was also discussed.

In fact, the meeting was to be held on January 7. But it was postponed due to the Kovid-12 epidemic. The meeting was called today as the situation improved. Today's meeting is being held for the first time after Kovid. In which executive members attended in person.

The meeting was attended by the party's acting presidents Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Ashok Gehlot, AK Antony, Ambika Soni, Ghulam Nabi Azad, P. Chidambaram, Anand Sharma, Harish Rawat, KC Venugopal, Randeep Surjewal, Jairam Ramesh, and Ajay Maken were present. Also present were Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channy, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Badhel and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

The meeting also discussed the by-elections of the Congress, as well as the election of the party president. It was also natural to discuss setting a precedent for the 203 general elections.

However, at this stage, the question of resolving the dispute between Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Navjot Singh and Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channy and the proposal made by Chhattisgarh Health Minister TS Singh Dev to change the Chief Minister in the state for two and a half years and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot ignored the question. In her inaugural address to the meeting, Congress President Sonia Gandhi said, "I am the full-time and full-time party president of the Congress. There is complete internal democracy in the party, and internal elections must be held in the party.

The statements made by party president Sonia Gandhi to G-23 leader Kapil Sibal are not known to anyone, who decides in the party, because there is no elected president in the party.

At the meeting, Ms. Sonia Gandhi presented the party's organizational schedule on the table, addressing the opposition in the party and said, "They did not need to go directly to the media. Whatever goes beyond the four walls of this room will be the collective decision of the Congress executive.

Mrs. Gandhi made these statements at a time when even senior party leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma were expressing concern over the declining influence of the party and the growing number of people leaving the party.
