Taiwan warns China: Asia will burn if it occupies us

China provokes Taiwan by demonstrating its military prowess by flying 38 fighter jets over Taiwan's airspace

New Delhi: Tensions between China and Taiwan continue to rise. On October 1, China celebrated its national day. Demonstrating his military prowess, he flew six of his planes inside Taiwan's airspace. Now the statement from Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen has come under fire. He warned that if China occupied Taiwan, it would have serious and devastating consequences across Asia. Taiwan does not want a military conflict, but will do whatever it has to do to defend itself. Taiwan will make no mistake in doing so.

His remarks come at a time when China is putting tremendous pressure on Taiwan. Taiwan sees itself as an autonomous democratic island, but China believes Taiwan is part of it. Chinese President Jinping has also said that occupation of Taiwan would be necessary.

The United States has said its commitment to Taiwan is strong, adding that China has been taking provocative measures and that China's military activities are threatening the autonomous region.

Taiwan's Defense Ministry said six Chinese planes had entered the air defense identification zone. This is the first time such a large number of Chinese aircraft have entered China.

China believes Taiwan is an isolated part of it. However, full of democracy, Taiwan sees itself as an independent state. We urge China not to impose military, diplomatic, economic pressure on Taiwan in the Strait of Taiwan and not to oppress Taiwan. The move is in the interest of peace and stability in the region.

In view of China's increasing moves, the United States has in recent years provided Taiwan with a large supply of weapons and has routinely sided with it. Because of this, China is more vulnerable. In a separate statement, Senator Marco Rubio said that as of Friday, 18 Chinese warplanes had flown near Taiwan's air defense identification zone.

On Friday, China's national day, 38 fighter jets flew over Taiwan's airspace twice, making it China's largest encroachment ever. China has stepped up military, political and economic pressure in the region since the 2014 presidential election in Taiwan. The reason is that Ying-wen won this election. It considers Taiwan an independent nation. He has consistently stated that Taiwan is not part of China. Just 180 km from China. The language of distant Taiwan is Chinese, but the political system is different.

After the Communist victory in China in 1949, Chang Kai-shek's government settled on an island off the mainland of China, then known as Formesa Island. Following the victory of the communists, China lost its democratic rule. Because of this the proponents of democracy were moving to the island which is today known as Taiwan.
