Nobel Prize in Medicine to two American scientists


New Delhi: American scientist David Julius and Ardam Patapotian will be jointly awarded the Nobel Prize. The announcement was made by the Nobel Committee on Monday.

Three prizes in physiology or medicine have been announced. This time the prize money is being jointly given to American scientist David Julius and Ardam Patapotian. This prize has been used to detect receptors for temperature and touch. The Nobel Prize was announced on Monday by Thomas Pearlman, secretary general of the Nobel Committee.

Last year's Nobel Prize in Medicine was jointly won by three scientists, Harvey J. Alter, Michael Houghton, and Charles M. Rice. He discovered the hepatitis-C virus that damages the liver. This research has helped to find a cure for a fatal illness.

Julien Seerath, a member of the Nobel Assembly and professor of physiology, said that at the time when Alfred Nobel had now included physiology or medicine in the list of Nobel Prizes, he was very clear about his will. He specifically stated that he was investigating a discovery that would benefit human society.

The winner of the Nobel Prize receives a gold medal and a prize money of 10 million Swedish kronor (૪ 11.5 million). The prize money comes from Alfred Nobel's will. He died in 1895. In addition to medicine, Nobel Prizes are awarded in Physics, Chemistry, Literature, Peace and Economics.
