Gadkari's development of the country's roads is commendable: Sharad Pawar

Before Gadkari came to power, 5,000 km of work was done and he crossed 16,000 km.

Pune: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar has lauded Gadkari for his significant growth on the road transport front in the country. He also praised them for making effective use of electricity. The two leaders of the rival political party gathered on a platform in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. On this occasion, Sharad Pawar said, "I came to this function because I was told that Nitin Gadkari is going to lay the foundation stone of some projects in Ahmednagar, which will solve the long standing issues of the city." They want me to be present.

Normally, nothing happens after the foundation stone of government schemes is laid, but when it comes to Gadkari's projects, work starts within a few days of the ceremony.

Pawar said Gadkari was a great example of how a people's representative can work for the development of the country. I remember that when Gadkari took over the present responsibility, five thousand kilometers of work was done, today he has completed this work to twelve thousand kilometers.

Former Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar also advised farmers not to limit their production to sugarcane or sugar but to consider it as a raw material for ethanol.

Gadkari said that besides implementing road projects in Buldhana district of Maharashtra, the National Highway Authority also cleaned local rivers and ditches. "I propose to Maharashtra Rural Development Minister Hasan Musharraf to consider focusing on water conservation in Ahmednagar district," he said. Increasing the depth of rivers and ditches helps in raising the ground water level.
