Srinagar: There was a fierce clash between the army and militants in Jammu and Kashmir. Five people, including an officer, were killed in the crossfire. The tragic incident took place during a search operation by terrorists in Poonch district. The operation, which started early in the morning based on reports of terrorists being present, lasted all day.

The terrorists suddenly fired heavily at the army. During which the casualties occurred. Kashmir is currently witnessing an increase in targeted killings in which terrorists are targeting Hindus and Sikhs. The army is also conducting a large-scale search operation. As part of which, the army team reached the village near Surankot in Poonch for investigation.

The militants opened fire on the army and fled to Bhangai village in nearby Rajouri district. The search for the terrorists continued till late at night. All the escape routes for the terrorists were blocked by the army. A large number of troops have been rocked in the area. And a large-scale search operation is underway.

Rajouri and Poonch have witnessed an increase in terrorist hideouts and attacks this year. After the martyrdom of five soldiers, anti-Pakistan protests were staged in Kashmir by the Shiv Sena and the Dogra Front organization and a statue of Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan was burnt.

The Jammu and Kashmir Congress demanded immediate action against the terrorists. And also expressed shock at paying tribute to the martyred soldiers. On the other hand, two militants were killed in another encounter in Anantnag and Bandipora districts. During which a policeman was injured. Here, too, during the search operation, heavy gunfire erupted between the militants.

However the terrorists were successful in being shot. A large-scale search operation was also underway in Shopian. Even in Shopian, like Anantnag and Poonch, there was a fierce confrontation between the militants and the army. There were two encounters in Shopian on Monday, during which four militants were surrounded by troops.

In the last 24 hours, the army has had four major encounters in Jammu and Kashmir. Two militants were killed and five others, including an army officer, were injured. For the first time in many days, such a large number of people have been martyred in clashes with terrorists.
