Delhi city strangled to enter now: Supreme annoyed with farmers

Farmers' organization demands approval for picket on Jantar Mantar

Has filed a petition in the High Court against the agricultural laws, now there is no point in continuing the agitation: Supreme Court

Sealing Delhi's borders, jamming highways damaged business, putting many people in trouble

New Delhi: Farmers have been protesting against agricultural laws since November last year. The whole matter has reached the Supreme Court. The apex court has expressed displeasure with the farmers' organizations, saying that earlier you have strangled the entire city by staging demonstrations at the borders of Delhi and now you want to enter the city.

The farmers had demanded a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, following which the Supreme Court expressed its displeasure. The agitation is currently going on on the borders of Delhi so many roads are closed. There have been petitions in the Supreme Court to remove the farmers. While there have also been requests from farmers seeking permission to picket at Jantar Mantar.

In the Supreme Court, an organization called Kisan Mahapanchayat had sought permission to hold a dharna at Jantar Mantar. Expressing displeasure over this, the Supreme Court said that earlier you had strangled the city by staging demonstrations at the borders of Delhi and now you want to come inside (Jantar Mantar).

Have you taken any opinion on this from Jantar Mantar and the people around it? Have you asked if there will be any trouble from picketing them? Are the citizens happy with this movement? Supreme Court judges AM Khanwilkar and CT Ravikumar told the farmers' associations that the farmers had filed a petition in the high court seeking their demands.

Now that the whole matter is in court, the movement has no purpose as the judiciary must now be trusted. Questioning the farmers' association, the apex court said, "Answer us one thing, you have to do satyagraha inside Delhi, it doesn't matter." But you have filed a petition in the court against these agricultural laws.

He should be trusted once the court is reached. Now there is no purpose to do satyagraha. You have blocked the borders and strangled the city of Delhi. Should people close down their businesses?

The apex court had also expressed displeasure over the farmers' association for blocking highways during the agitation as well as traffic problems. In response, the farmers' union's lawyer argued that the highway had been closed by the police, not us. The apex court later asked them to file an affidavit in the entire case stating that the petitioner organization was not part of the agitating farmers who were jamming the highway.
