The 17th round of meeting between the military commanders of India and China was held on Sunday to defuse tensions over the LAC in eastern Ladakh. At the meeting, India called on the LAC to withdraw its troops from the front lines as soon as possible.

A meeting of military commanders of the two countries was held at Moldo Garrison in eastern Ladakh. The meeting started at 10.30 am and lasted for about eight and a half hours. According to sources, the meeting discussed the withdrawal of troops from both the countries from the hot-spring in eastern Ladakh. However, nothing concrete can be said about the outcome of this meeting. The commanders of both countries will hold talks with their country's top military and political leadership on the meeting. The outcome of the meeting is then likely to be announced.

The meeting was attended by Lt. Gen. P Chidambaram, Commander, 18th Corps (Fire and Fury Corps), Leh. G.K. Man when the commander of the southern Xinjiang Military District from China participated. The meeting came a day after China released catastrophic images of the Galvan Valley violence that erupted 18 months ago. Earlier, a face-off was reported in Arunachal Pradesh between Indian and Chinese troops. In addition, Chinese troops tried to infiltrate the Barahoti sector of Uttarakhand. The meeting took place in the background of these events. India has stressed the need for a solution to all points of conflict, including Depsang, for an overall improvement in relations between the two countries.
