Mumbai: Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh has fled the country and is being investigated by the agencies. He was not found even after the NIA issued several summons to him in August.

Therefore, the state government along with the NIA also suspects that Parambir Singh has fled the country to avoid arrest. The NIA had issued summons to Parambir Singh in the Antilia blast case and Mansukh Hiran murder case. The NIA first recorded Parambir Singh's reply in April after the arrest of Sachin Waze.

Singh's reply was recorded to get information about the proceedings to sack Sachin Waze. When this chapter came out, Sachin Waze was reporting directly to Parambir Singh. The chargesheet filed by the NIA recently said that evidence of Parambir Singh's involvement was also found.

According to NIA sources, Parambir Singh was summoned once again in August. He did not respond, however. Thane police had issued a lookout notice against him. Now that no trace of Parambir Singh has been found, the discussion on where Parambir Singh really is has gained momentum. It is suspected that Parambir Singh fled the country a few days ago.

Parambir Singh rose to prominence across the country after accusing former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of extorting Rs 100 crore in ransom. When the state government took action, Parambir Singh decided to leave Mumbai and stay in Chandigarh and went on leave for medical reasons.

It is said that with the blessings of BJP leaders, Parambir Singh made allegations against Anil Deshmukh and the leader of Mahavikas Aghadi. However, he avoided staying in Mumbai for fear of being arrested by the Maharashtra police. The talk that Parambir Singh has left the country has gained momentum as the state government has tightened the procedure.

According to sources, the Home Department has been trying to contact Parambir Singh since May. On May 5, Parambir went on leave. Five FIRs have been registered against him in Mumbai and Thane, three of which are being investigated by the CID. CID and Thane police have also issued lookout notices against Parambir Singh.
