14,000 new cases in the country, 549 deaths: Rise again in Bengal-Assam


So far 106 crore doses of vaccine have been given

The first 73.24 crore doses of the vaccine were given in the country while the second 32.76 crore doses were given, killing 471 people in Kerala

Guwahati: New cases of corona virus are on the rise in West Bengal and Assam. Both states have seen an increase in weekly transition rates while corona tests have seen a decline. With this in mind, the central government has asked both the states to speed up the investigation and focus on measures to prevent the transition.

Apart from these states, cases are also on the rise in Mizoram. More than 14,000 cases were reported in the country in 24 hours while 549 deaths were reported out of which 471 were in Kerala. On October 22, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan wrote a letter to West Bengal expressing concern over the rising number of cases in Kolkata.

Following the celebration of Durga Puja this month, West Bengal is witnessing a rapid rise in new cases of corona. In the last 24 hours, 14313 new cases of corona have been reported in India bringing the total number of cases to 3,42,60,470. Similarly 1,61,555 active cases have been reported.

In a single day, 549 people have died from corona. And the total death toll has reached 4,57,740. Of the new deaths, 471 are from Kerala alone. Vaccination is being accelerated in India. So far, 106 million doses of corona vaccine have been given.

The nationwide vaccination drive was launched on January 16. A total of 62 lakh doses of the vaccine were given by 7 pm on Saturday. Of the 106 crore doses given so far, 73.24 crore have been given first and 32.76 crore second doses. Currently, the states have 12.73 crore doses available.
