New Delhi: A 43-year-old man has been arrested by the Economic Crimes Branch of the Delhi Police for his alleged involvement in a racket involving 40 people in a job scam in the railways, authorities said in a statement.

Accused Mohammad Raghib Firoz, a resident of Greater Noida, holds a postgraduate degree in psychology and a diploma in journalism and mass communication. According to police, the accused was carrying out all the racket activities including collecting money from the victims, filling up various forms for appointments and training.

Earlier, two persons, Brij Kishore and Sachin Kumar, were arrested in the case. The accused had defrauded a total of Rs 2.44 crore with 40 youths by offering them jobs in the railways.

Most of the victims are from poor families and are residents of villages around Agra, Hathras and Patna. According to police, one of the accused identified himself as an IAS officer.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Economic Offenses Wing) RK Singh said the accused had also issued letters of appointment and training. A fake medical examination was also conducted. Then three months training was also given in Dehradun to win the confidence of the candidates.
