The court relied on the Rajasthan government's reply

Sorry..Asaram's crime is not normal: Court

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has once again rejected the bail plea of Asaram, a self-styled godman facing various jail terms in a rape case, saying the offense committed by him was not a common offense.

In his bail application, Asaram sought cancellation of his jail term for a few months for Ayurvedic treatment of his ill health.

Justices Indira Banerjee, Bella Trivedi and V. Ramsubramaniam's bench took special note of the reply submitted by the Rajasthan government stating that all necessary treatment had been provided to the offender. Taking note of the reply, the bench rejected Asaram's plea.

Sorry..this is no ordinary crime. The bench rejected the bail application saying that you will get all kinds of treatment in jail. Opposing Asaram's bail plea, advocate Manish Singhvi, appearing for the Rajasthan government, said Asaram was being provided the best treatment in jail.

Asaram had on June 4 filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking two months bail for Ayurvedic treatment of his ill health. So the court sought a reply from the Rajasthan government in this regard.
