Rakesh Tikait, who is leading a farmers' movement against agricultural laws, addressed the Kisan Mahapanchayat held at Muzaffarnagar on Sunday. Apart from the ruling BJP, Tikait also launched a barrage of attacks on the ruling BJP, Uttar Pradesh and the Union government. Rakesh Tikait termed the BJP as a rioting party and called for its ouster.

The BJP has also retaliated against Rakesh Tikait. Regarding a tweet by Rakesh Tikait, BJP spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi wrote that 20,000 people could not gather and are claiming Rs 20 lakh. "I have tweeted 4 photos and all four are showing their own faces," he said, targeting Tikait. A small crowd came when Mian Khalifa was rumored but people returned disappointed.

UP BJP spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi attacked Tikait by retweeting his tweet. Rakesh Tikait wrote in his tweet that 2 million farmers from Jammu and Kashmir to Kerala reached Muzaffarnagar and re-certified the dictatorial government, which he called a handful of farmers. They are farmers all over the country. Before Rakesh Tripathi, UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya also scoffed at the issue of farmers' agitation.

Maurya compared the peasant movement to the Shahinbagh demonstration against the Citizenship Research Act (CAA). Addressing a function at Kanpur, Keshav Prasad said, "It is not the farmers but the people of SP, BSP and Congress who are involved in the farmers' movement." The peasant movement will be in the same situation as the Shahinbagh movement was.
