The World Bank will no longer issue the Ease of Doing Business report

The World Bank Group has decided to stop publishing its Ease of Doing Business report on investment climate in various countries following allegations of irregularities.

The World Bank Group management said in a statement that based on the findings of previous reviews, audits and a report issued by the bank on behalf of the Board of Executive Directors, the World Bank Group management has decided to stop publishing the Ease of Doing Business report.

However the World Bank Group further stated that it is committed to advancing the role of the private sector in development and supporting governments. The bank further said that we will work on a new approach to review the business and investment environment in the future.

The Bank further said that we are very grateful to our employees who have worked diligently to advance the business climate agenda. We look forward to using their energy and abilities in new ways.

The World Bank was informed of the data irregularities in the Ease of Doing Business Report, 2015 and 2020, through an internal investigation in June, 2020.
