Introduction to be placed in a special category in vaccinating lactating or pregnant women

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday prepared for a hearing on a petition seeking to give priority to giving corona vaccine to pregnant as well as breastfeeding women in the high-risk category.

A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and BV Nagaratna directed the Center to respond to the Delhi Child Protection Commission's (DCPCR) application within two weeks.

Advocate Vrinda Grover, appearing for DCPCR, said the Center has issued some orders for vaccination of pregnant women and lactating women. However, it is now being said that vaccination may have some adverse effects on them.

Women in these situations need to be disclosed in the high-risk category. Because one is suffering from a virus about which he does not know much. Therefore, there is a need for continuous research on the effects of vaccination on them.

He said a platform needs to be created for the registration of pregnant women as well as breastfeeding mothers. Which can be monitored. The apex court also demanded that the disabled be vaccinated at home. In which the Supreme Court sought a reply from the Central Government. He also asked for help in taking steps in this regard.
