The ISI chief arrived in Kabul before the formation of the Taliban government

Islamabad, Dt

Lieutenant General Faiz Hamid, head of Pakistan's powerful spy agency ISI, arrived in Kabul on Saturday, just before the new government was formed, amid speculation that the Taliban had full backing of Pakistan in Afghanistan.

A Pakistani delegation led by Lieutenant General Hamid, the director general of Pakistan's spy agency ISI, arrived in Kabul as the Taliban struggled to form an inclusive government acceptable to the international community in Afghanistan. In addition, Pakistan has been in a hurry to declare its friendship with the Taliban after the Taliban called China its biggest ally. As part of which, ISI chief Hamid reached Kabul even before the formation of the government. He is believed to have discussed the formation of the next government with Taliban leaders.

ISI chief Hamid will also discuss Pakistan-Afghanistan relations, the economy and other issues with Taliban leaders, sources said. Hamid also met the Pakistani ambassador in Kabul, according to Pakistan's Geo News. The former Afghan government has repeatedly accused Pakistan of providing military assistance to the Taliban. But Pakistan denied it. However, ISI chief Hamid's visit on Saturday has exposed the nexus between the Taliban and Pakistan.
